“Another Face, Another Time” and “Pick Me” are subliminal responses to my research of Freud's writings, the objects in his house and my own experiences.

“Pick Me”, grapples with the psychological pressure on modern man and the increase in recent mental health issues to almost epidemic proportions. These figures are evocative of Freud's statuettes that swamped his bureau and were believed, in ancient times, to contain religious/guiding spirits within their confines. In “Pick Me”, they are reduced to mere heads on sticks, and are symbolic of todays souls. Silently they are united in their desire to be part of something but each scream to be different, memorable, special.

“Civilization, therefore, obtains mastery over the individuals dangerous desire for aggression, by weakening and disarming it and by setting up an agency within to watch over it, like a garrison in a conquered city.” -Sigmund Freud
